This picture is my destroyed on of my bubby and I. It is ripped in the arm and folded across his shirt which I chose to do because both have many different tones that needed to be blended and worked on for it to really look realistic.
This photo is the fixed version of my bubby and I. To be honest, I didn't really think it was going to take as long as it actually did. I am happy with the way it turned out but in hindsight, I think it would have been neat to try a few other kinds of pictures like black and white or a really beat up old picture. Using these tools to touch up has really showed me how much you can do with photoshop. This was my best work in Photoshop.
These two pieces are my best work from InDesign. This piece was particularly difficult because of how much text needed to be crammed into such a small space. My favorite part is the front of the brochure. Initially, the front was all black but I really wanted to add more color so I started to mess around with the HOMETOWN title at the bottom. Then i decided it still needed more so I added the circle in the back of Mickey. Another thing I really like about this piece is the coloring of the titles. I think that is one of it's stronger attributes. Also, the organization of the whole brochure is a strong part of the piece. Out of all of my InDesign pieces, this one took me the longest but in the long run is definitally my favorite!!

This piece is my favorite hands down of all of my Illustrator projects. I spent a lot of hours on this piece and I was and still am very happy with the outcome. Upon reading the prompt for this project, I thought it was going to be impossible! But if you just take it piece by piece, it really came together nicely. This was a great project to really learn how to work in Illustrator and this is one of my favorite pieces overall.
This piece I had a really fun time creating. I liked the way that i used all of the book bindings for my type. The one thing I would have done differently looking back is to take these into Photoshop and clean up the bindings of the books but with all things considered, I still really like this piece. I used this piece for my best creative concept.

This piece I used for my best design structure. I felt that this one used the most of what we learned about design. The proportions and the sizing of the type and the structure were all really taken into account while working on this piece. Looking at it now, it is a little plain and could use some more detail but I also like the simplicity of it.

The chili pepper thumbnails were my favorite thumbnails. I liked them so much because I really spent a lot of time making sure that each and every thumbnail was one I could take into the next stage of the design process. I like how each of the thumbnails is very clean and tight but I wish I would have put a little more detail into them.
This is my favorite marker comp. This is also my best example of copy fitting. The marker comp and the actual matched up almost perfectly as far as the type goes and it made things a lot easier to take to the next stage of the design process.

CHILI COOK OFF POSTER

This piece turned out so much better than I was expecting. The actual pepper is one of the strongest points but I also think that the font that the CHILI COOK OFF title is in adds to the piece a lot. I was a bit dissapointed to see which thumbnail had been chosen for me but after working with the pepper a little and getting all of the type squared in, I really do like this a lot!

Kristin's Chili Cook Off Poster

The chili with the wording as the outline was the composition that I chose.  There is a lot of movement through the piece with the waves of the pepper.  I would consider dropping the dash between cook and off thought.  To me it throws the piece off a bit.  In the next composition, I think the bottom line of the pepper should come a little bit closer to the top line at the tip.  Consider a very bold font for the title because there is a lack of negative space.  Watch the edges also because there is no bleed for this project so nothing can be touching the edge.  It needs something so there is not so much white space...bolder lines perhaps? Maybe filling in the leaves...something needs to really grab you and pull you in because at first the wording as the outline of the pepper is not that noticeable which I think is really cool.  I like the simplicity of it from far away and the intricateness of it up close.  Very neat work and great use of space.  Good work!

Photoshop Bubba and Me

These two photos are of me and my Bubba.  This was a project done in Photoshop as well to touch up a ruined photo.  This photo had a tear and a crease that needed a little fixing.  I chose this picture because my Bubba is still at home in high school and I miss him soo much being away.  This was my favorite photo that we took on our vacation to Hawaii.  Out of all of the sunsets and ocean scenes, this one was the picture I have hanging in my room.  This process was actually very entertaining and I thought it was fun.  It was difficult trying to patch up all of the work but also was a blast seeing how close to the actual thing you could get it.  This is my number one favorite photoshop piece.

Photoshop Day Map

This project was done in Photoshop.  It is a day map.  The first picture is my lovely alarm clock with the time that I wake up every morning approximately.  The second picture is of my laptop which I am on for long periods of time.  The third picture is of myself and my boyfriend and our friend Joe.  I love hanging out with friends.  All three of these pictures are posted on a picture of my desk with textbooks and a sketchbook.  In the sketchbook there is a list for the day.  At the bottom of the textbook there is a short quote that I found to be humorous and pertains to the piece perfectly.  This was my second favorite photoshop project and was the first one I did where I put more than one picture on a page.

InDesign Dinner and a Book

Dinner and a Book was my first InDesign project that I was really proud of.  It was an old poster that we had to recreate with a clipping path.  Initially, I didn't know where to start. I then found this set of books and thought it would be fun to put all of the information in the book titles.  I think this was a fun way to get all of the information into the piece but also to make it unique.  The differing fonts also were fun to do and overall, I really like this piece.  

Illustrator 1970 Camaro

This project has by far been my favorite of them all.  Upon getting the prompt for this project, I immediately thought of my dad who had a handful of great cars back in the day that would be perfect for this project.  I asked him which he would rather see me do and he said his 1970 Camaro Rally Sport with the two white "skunk" stripes.  I found a car just like  his and went to town.  I am so happy at how this car turned out and am proud of the accomplishment.  

Illustrator Sunglasses

These sunglasses were the first illustrator project that I was really happy with.  It was a tough project in the beginning because I didn't know where to begin.  There were so many different colors and shades and hues...it just blew my mind.  I finally got myself to look at the image and find a spot where I would be a little less intimidated.  I began at the bottom left on a tiny little screw connecting the frames and the arms of the sunglasses together.  Overall, I am very pleased with this project.  If I would have been able to go back and completely start over, I know where I would have started and which steps I would have taken to get to the final project with much less work.  This project was the real beginning to the journey I have started with the Adobe software.

This is the 1970 Camaro Rally Sport.  This one is for Dad.  This was a car he had back in the day.  This piece was very difficult but fun to do.  Hope you like it Dad!!!
